Set in the heart of the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees, around 800 metres above sea level, Malva sits privately among towering pine trees, surrounded by forest in every direction. Wake to birdsong, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and spend your evenings beneath endless star-filled skies.

Step outside and you’ll find some of the region’s most beautiful hiking trails right on your doorstep, leading to rivers, natural pools, waterfalls, and dramatic cliffside viewpoints. The Llosa del Cavall reservoir is just 10 minutes away, while the crystal-clear Aiguadora River, perfect for wild swimming, can be reached with a peaceful 15-minute walk through the forest.

Designed to offer comfort without disconnecting you from nature, this unique off-grid cabin provides everything you need for a restorative escape. Inside you'll find a king-sized bed, a hot shower, and a well-equipped kitchen with a gas hob. Malva is also thoughtfully set up for a phone-free retreat, with a lockbox for devices, a radio, and plenty of board games to help you slow down and reconnect.

Well-behaved dogs are very welcome at Malva, though the area around the cabin isn't enclosed. To keep your four-legged friends (and the local wildlife) safe, we ask that dogs remain on a lead.

Things to do around Malva

The Solsonès is one of the most beautiful yet least visited corners of Catalonia, which means the rivers are still cold, the vultures are still wild and the trails still feel like yours.

River Swimming: L'Aiguadora

Crystal-clear, icy river with its source in Gósol at 1,958m. Swing a towel over your shoulder and walk 15 minutes from your cabin through the woods. The climb back up will warm you right up!

Forest Bathing

'Forest Bathing' is the practice of immersing yourself in woodland, with studies suggesting it can reduce stress and lower blood pressure. Forest Days is surrounded by forest, with quiet trails winding through the trees and plenty of places to slow down and wander.

Feed Wild Griffon Vultures

Join a local wildlife guide for a day in the mountains and watch these magnificent birds soar overhead before seeing them gather at a feeding station just metres away. It's nature at its most raw, immersive and unforgettable.

Wild lake swimming

Forget swimming pools. The deep emerald waters of Pantà de Sant Ponç are just 12mins drive away. Find your own stretch of shoreline, cool off with a swim, or explore the reservoir by kayak with Tirantmilles. Have a cold craft beer and views across their water lakeside terrace.

Kayak in La Llosa del Cavall

Llosa del Cavall is best explored from the water. Paddle along its rocky shoreline, discover hidden coves and stop for a picnic in quiet inlets only accessible by kayak. Local guides Marcel and Albert from RELLEUS can point you towards the reservoir's most beautiful corners.

Hot Air Ballooning

There's no better way to appreciate the scale of the landscape than from above. With GlobusPirineu, float peacefully over the forests, fields and valleys, with sweeping views of the Pyrenees mountain range in the distance. A glass of cava along the way doesn't hurt either.

Wine and cheese tasting

30 mins away, the vineyards of El Celler del Miracle grow on the sunlit slopes surrounding a 15th-century Benedictine monastery. Join Jordi for a tasting of these unique mountain wines alongside homemade cheeses, followed by a visit to the monastery cellar.

Hiking in Serra de Busa

A short drive up the Vall d'Ora leads to one of the region's most spectacular viewpoints. Perched 1,400 metres above sea level, the Busa plateau offers sweeping mountain views, dramatic cliffs and a choice of walks ranging from gentle strolls to longer explorations.

Bungee Jumping

Not all adventures involve slowing down. At the Llosa del Cavall dam, Bungee.Cat offers one of Europe's highest bungee jumps, with a 122-metre freefall above the reservoir below. The views are spectacular, if you remember to look before you jump!

Canyoning

Canyoning takes you deep into some of the wildest corners of the valley. Swim, scramble and jump your way downstream through crystal-clear water, guided by Marcel and Albert from Relleus, who know every hidden pool and canyon in the area.

Skiing Slopes

As the peaks turn white, the action moves higher into the mountains. Port del Comte and Tuixent–La Vansa are both around 40 mins away, with excellent skiing and snowshoeing. Afterwards, head back to the cabin and thaw out beside the stove.

You can travel to Malva via car (1h30mins) or public transport (2h20 bus and a 25minute taxi ride from Barcelona).

After booking your chosen cabin, you’ll receive an online ‘Welcome Guide’ detailing the exact location of the cabin and directions by car or train and taxi. If you’re travelling by bus, we highly recommend booking your connecting taxi in advance, as rural locations don’t tend to have Uber!

The cabin is your space to relax in any way you like to. We recommend getting your hiking boots on and exploring the local area. Our hosts have lived in the area for a very long time, so have created a detailed welcome guide with recommendations of hikes, waterfalls, restaurants and other hidden spots nearby.

For days or evenings in the cabin, we’ve kitted it out with lots of phone-free activities, including:

📚 A selection of our fave books
👾 Board games
📻 Radio Cassette Player + Tapes
📸 Instant Camera + 10 free films
🗺 Map and compass
🔥 Fire pit

Check-in is at 3pm

We don't currently offer food packages but we're working on it!

All cabins have a well-equipped kitchen including a mini-fridge and gas hob to cook up your fave meals. We include pots, pans, cooking utensils and even chef knives. Plus, loose leaf tea, coffee beans, oil, salt and pepper.

If you’re looking for a night or two away from the stove, there’s restaurants and eateries nearby, as listed in your welcome guide.

Yes! All our cabins have hot showers and an eco-composting toilet in an indoor bathroom. We provide eco-friendly toiletries and luxury towels, too!

Of course! Malva is on private land and is lockable from the inside and outside.

We include enough firewood for your first night. You can add full log store access to your booking for €20 on checkout, which includes firewood, kindling and firelighters.

No, the digital detox is entirely self-policed. However, we do massively recommend you unplug for the full duration of your stay to get feel entirely disconnected from your normal day to day. Our lockboxes have a padlock and key, with the key in a sealed envelope, so if you want to unlock it, you can.

We provide you with a Nokia so you can reach our cabin support team and contact friends and family if you need to. The number for the Nokia will be shared with you in advance of your stay.

All our stays are 3 or 4 nights as this is the minimum time it takes to fully switch off and reap the benefits of nature and time offline. You can read more about 'The 3 Day Effect' here.

We know plans can change, so we’ll always do what we can to accommodate booking amendments. If your check-in date is over 28 days away, your stay can be rebooked for a new date or you can request a voucher, or a full refund. If your check-in date is within 14-28 days, you can move your stay to a future date, or request a voucher equal to the payment you have made. Cancellations or amendments are unfortunately not possible if your check-in date is in or within 14 days. All bookings have a 48 hour cooling off period, so if you change your mind you can reschedule your stay or get a full refund. Rescheduled stays are non-refundable.
